Conflict-Free Workspace Sync with CRDTs: Designing Resilient Offline-First Data Layers

When users switch between laptop and desktop workstations while working offline on airplanes, merge conflicts can easily corrupt notes and task graphs. Maple uses state-based CRDTs (Yjs) to guarantee deterministic convergence without data loss.

"In a local-first paradigm, offline editing is the default state. The network is merely an opportunistic synchronization transport."

Our CRDT pipeline compacts edit histories into delta vectors that sync seamlessly over peer-to-peer encrypted WebRTC channels or local LAN broadcasts.
